Nominations open for Tuna Australia Board of Directors
Tuna Australia is calling on members interested in shaping the organization’s strategic direction to nominate for a Board Director position.
Seven Director positions are available on the Tuna Australia Board from 11 August 2021 for a two-year tenure. The seven-member Board, Chair, and CEO meet in person or virtually up to four times per year.
An opportunity for influence
A Director is responsible for providing strategic direction to Tuna Australia and ensuring that the work plan is consistent with the organization’s objectives.
“In the last 12 months, the Board has provided high-level oversight and guidance on key issues including accessing reliable labour, market diversification, freight subsidies, reviewing fishery management items and project management,” said Richard Stevens OAM, who has been the independent Chair since October 2019 and is currently serving his second two-year term.
Tuna Australia project achievements include the Marine Stewardship Council certification, managing longline drift near marine park boundaries, and the market diversification and resilience roadmap.
“I encourage anyone with an interest in driving forward Tuna Australia’s program and agenda to nominate,” said Stevens. “Joining the Board is a great opportunity to support progress towards the organization’s vision and goals.”
